Majik Says Thank You!

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone is well and staying warm in this awful cold weather here in the UK.

I have a quick share with you all today ~ if you are a regular follower of my blog you will already have formed the opinion that I am completely mad as far as my dogs go, but this extends to the rest of my family and Majik got a card and a cheque off her 'Nan' (my Mom) for her Birthday!!!!

Being a very polite Beardie she insisted on sending a Thank You card in return, which I was duly commissioned to make ....

The brief was for the card to be simple in design but to convey the message succinctly.

This is what I came up with, Majik was chuffed to bits and so was my Mom - lol.

CARD RECIPE

Image: Inkadinkado 'Paw Print' (sadly I can't find a supplier of this stamp now)

Happy Birthday Majik

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well and looking forward to the weekend.  We have had the builders in for two weeks now and there is potentially still another week to go!  I am fed up of being frozen to death as they constantly leave the front door open ~ by the time Hubby gets home I am so cold we need to light a fire to get me thawed out again ~ lol.

Today I have a card which I made for Majik's 6th Birthday which was last week.  As soon as I saw these Katy Sue Designs 'Shaggy Dog Tails' new stamp sets I knew I had to have them all.  Although the dogs on the stamps are supposed to be Old English Sheepdogs ~ I knew I could adapt them to look like Bearded Collies.

CARD RECIPE

Colouring Medium: Copics
Backing Papers: First Edition 'Love Letters'
Cardstock: Bazzil Basics

Mother's Day Trio & Kai

Hi everyone,

Firstly, thank you for all your lovely comments on my last post ~ I do appreciate it.

Today I have a quick post to reveal exactly why I needed four Mother's Day cards in total!

One for my Stepmom

One for MIL

One for Majik's Mom ~ Isla Beardie!
I am going to be ultra lazy with this post and not list all the ingredient for the cards ~ but if anyone wants to know anything then just contact me and I'll let you know (providing I know where it came from)!

I am in a hurry because the 'builders' are back and they are working in the loft where all the cables for the internet and literally everything else run through, so I am expecting to be discombobulated any time soon!

The good news is Kai is back ~ he is an honorary member of the pack here having arrived at ten weeks old with Richard the builder when we had all the other work done on the house ~ he spent the first few months of his life running around with the Beardies in our garden and here is a photo of him.

Here's Looking At You!
So, many thanks for stopping by ~ I will be back once these cables are sorted and I am connected again.

Happy Mother's Day

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well and dry!  It is raining here ~ so Dog towels on duty again.

Well, all my Motheris Day cards have been posted today (those that need to be posted that is), most people only have one to contend with I have four ~ don't ask!!  All will be revealed over the next few days.

So, today I am sharing the card I made for my actual Mum ~ she doesn't 'do' computers so I know there is no chance of her seeing it before the day.

A funny story ~ when I first started making cards I made a card for my Mum, I can't remember if it was a Birthday card or a Mother's day card, but I had put a lot of effort into it ~ as you do.  On speaking to her all she could say was "You could have put the word 'Mum' on it"......  what can I say?  So, ever since then I have gone overboard with the 'Mum' bit on her cards and this one is no exception!

CARD RECIPE

Image: Fizzy Moon ~ 'With Love'
Colouring Medium: Copics
Papers: First Edition ~ 'Isabelle'
Cardstock: Pearlescent card stock from my stash

Punch: Stampin' Up ~ 'Large Oval' & 'Scallop Oval'
Sentiment: Computer generated using font 'Noteworthy Light'
Flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts & Hobby House (the small Roses)
Ribbon, Lace & Twine from my stash

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Crafty Ribbons ~ Anything Goes With Ribbon
Bearly Mine ~ Challenge 76 ~ Mother's Day

Well, that's all for today folks ~ thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and of course for all you wonderful comments.

Chronology Card

Hi everyone,

Once again many thanks for all your well wishes for Majik since my last post ~ you are such a nice bunch out there in blogland!

I have an update ~ Majik didn't go to the vets on Tuesday for her x-ray, because I cancelled the appointment!  Now you are all probably thinking 'mad woman' cancelling the poor dog's appointment because she is worried about the anaesthetic!  Well, it wasn't quite like that ~ after our lovely Valentine's meal last Thursday evening Hubby had taken the Friday off so we could "do something",  well the "something" was a trip to Moreton in Marsh which is just a stone's throw from us, this was at my request.  I wish I hadn't bothered ~ sorry to anyone reading this who actually lives in Moreton in Marsh or likes it, but it was pretty boring.  We struggled to find anywhere to have lunch that we liked and the only saving grace was a couple of nice charity shops!

So, we arrive home and unpack our shopping, have a cup of tea etc, etc and because I am totally out of my routine I forget to give Majik her medicine.  This I remember on waking up on Saturday morning ~ I was fully expecting a poorly puppy hobbling around the house on three legs!  What I actually had was an extremely bouncy puppy not even showing any signs of a limp or being in pain.  Now the vet had said on our last visit that she thought if we took Majik off the medicine she would be in significant pain, so Hubby and I decided to withhold her medicine for another couple of days and see what happens ~ in a nutshell nothing.  By Monday I had decided that putting her through a general anaesthetic when she was showing no symptoms was crazy ~ I cancelled and felt a huge sense of relief.  To date Majik is still  fine ~ I have some medicine left just in case, but after this length of time I don't think she is going to need it.

Right, now if there is anyone still following this post I have another card to share today.  A male themed card using a set of stamps that came free with a magazine.

As you can see I temporarily gave up on the photo tent ~ I was in a rush to photograph this card and decided I didn't have time to do a couple of rounds with it!  I have since found a tutorial on setting it up on You Tube, so might have another bash!

CARD RECIPE

Image: Papermania Chronology stamp set (free with Issue 37 of docrafts Creativity magazine) which was then embossed with black embossing powder
Backing Papers: Bazzil Basics and some old papers from my scrap pile (the pocket watch image is a stamp in the set and was stamped onto the scrap paper with Memento London Fog), the metallic 'paper' that the stamped image is mounted on is also very old ~ it is a self adhesive sheet with 'Mrs Grossman's Scrapbook Symmetry' in the colourway 'Salvaged Ship' written on the back!
Die Cut 'cogs' ~ Xcut Chronology Cogs
Sentiment: Pink Petticoat 'Happy Birthday Sentiments' which then had a Lili of the Valley sentiment stamp with the sentiment masked off stamped over it to give the border.
Ribbon and Brads from stash box.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

My Heart Belongs To Daddy!

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well and that for most of us the white stuff has gone away ~ hurray!

Thank you to everyone who sent such lovely messages after Majik's 'incident' which was documented in my last post.

The saga continues however.  Yesterday I battled blizzard conditions to return to the vets for a second check up since Majik had her accident ~ Hubby and myself were both hoping that she would get signed off, but after the vet manipulated her shoulder and made her cry with pain yet again, she has recommended an X-ray to see what we are actually dealing with, as she put it "Majik is still significantly sore'.  This will require a general anaesthetic, which does not please me at all, but I think the vet is right we need to know what is going on so that the appropriate course of action can then be applied.  I have booked her in for next Tuesday (so I might as well right that day off ~ I am always in bits when one of them has to go under anaesthetic).

Today I am sharing a card that I made for Majik to give to Hubby for Valentines day ~ I know sad or wot!

I am not sure about the photograph, it was taken using my shiny new 'pop up' photo tent complete with lights ~ a Christmas present from my Dad and Stepmother.  You would have been ROFL if you could have seen me trying to set it up, as very helpfully there were no instructions ~ you won't believe how may ways there are to fold a photo tent!

CARD RECIPE

Merci

Hi everyone,

A warm welcome to my brand shiny new followers!

We missed the snow that was forecast for last night, which I can't say I am sorry about, but today is raw cold.  I am glad we are confined to short doggie walks at the moment, due to Majik having an accident!

She was running around the garden on Thursday evening and slipped on the wet muddy grass and let out an excruciating yelp and didn't move for a few seconds.  It was dark (they were on their last amble round the block before bedtime) so it was impossible to know what happened, but in the cold light of day we could see where she had slipped.  So, I ended up with a dog walking on three legs ~ she wouldn't weight bear at all when it first happened, but I noticed that after walking for a short while she would put her paw down and albeit with a limp walk on all four legs.  A trip to the vets resulted in her being prescribed some anti-inflammatory medicine with a painkiller in it, as the vet seemed to think it was a soft tissue injury in her shoulder.  I gave her the first dose on Friday afternoon when we got home and on Saturday morning she was vastly improved and has continued to improve ever since.

The other good news is that we completed on the sale of MIL's flat on Friday ~ what a weight off my shoulders that is.  We popped a cork on a nicely chilled bottle of bubbly to celebrate.

Anyhoo ~ enough of my ramblings and on to my share for today.

A Thank You card, I adore this Penny Black stamp and have used it time and time again, usually for Thank You cards as it seems so perfect for that sentiment.
