I was missing again last week, this was due to hubby celebrating his 60th and having a rare week off.  The card for today is the one I made for him.

We both love Hedgehogs, sadly not many round here, so this little Penny Black set was perfect.  For big Birthdays I love to make the number the centre of the card and embellish around it.

The little Hedgehogs were fussy cut and I nearly cut the balloon off the little guy at the top!  I also added a touch of Wink of Stella in clear to the ballon to match the brads.

The Birthday celebrations are well and truly over now, just some cake left, which was fabulous in the shape of a Campervan and organised by my wonderful Step Mom.  My turn next month, but it's not a big one.

70th Birthday Card

Good morning everyone, I hope you are all well.

We are trying out a new internet gadget today, something to do with 4G.  Our internet is slower than the old 'dial up' used to be.  It was okay when we first moved here, but something happened last Summer and we lost the broadband for a day or so and when it came back on it was pants.  I have tried to get BT to sort it, but they just keep saying we are within the range of their promised speed.  Just lately it seems to have got even worse and no sign of the promised Superfast Broadband, lots of cabling etc around the area, but it was never finished.  So, we have this new thingy and I have to say WOW, it really works.

So, on to my card for this week.  This was a card I made for a really good friend of ours who also happens to be the breeder we got our Majik Beardie from.

As you can see I wasn't shy of using embellishments on this card, a bit different to my last one.

Hello Baby Giraffe

Hello everyone,

As promised a new card to post, well new to my blog, but made a while ago.

As I have been feeling a bit down, my card making has been affected as well, my mojo had well and truly 'left the building'.  So, any cards that I made were pared down as I really didn't have the patience to create anything elaborate.

This one was for my Dad's Birthday.

I adore this image, those eyelashes!  As you can see I loved doing the colouring, it was like therapy, but when it came down to making the card I failed in the embellishment department.  Having said that I quite like the way it turned out in the end.

SAD NEWS .......

Hello everyone,

I have been MIA for a very long time, I have to admit to have been in a 'dark' place for some time.  On Christmas Eve (24th December 2017) in the early hours of the morning we lost our Bearded Collie Sorrell. She had become withdrawn from the rest of the family in the weeks before and was practically living in our bedroom full time.  At about 3am on that morning she woke us wanting to go out, we have a veranda outside our French doors from the bedroom (our bedroom is on the ground floor, it is an upside down house), she went out and did her business then collapsed.  We got her inside and she had very laboured breathing, I got dressed thinking we would need to get her to an emergency vet, but events took their own turn and with one last huge gasp she was gone.  She was fourteen and a half.

Christmas, as you can imagine, wasn't great.  We were on our own this year and that was probably for the best.

I struggled after New year, with all the problems we have had with the house since moving, trying to keep it all together, at one point sobbing down the phone to my Stepmom that I didn't want to be here any more.  I was extremely fragile and anyone who knows me would say I am strong and always see a way through, not this time.

Then in a cruel twist of fate we lost Bailey our beautiful Beardie Boy.  The week beginning 19th February he started really struggling to get up, we had rugs everywhere as our wooden floors were quite slippy.  Hubby went to work on the Monday morning and wasn't due home until the Friday (a usual occurrence as he works away from home full time).  During the next 48 hours Bailey became unable to get up at all and I was having to help him with a towel under neath him to support him, at this point he was still eating and drinking and going outside for his toileting.  I spoke to hubby and we decided this couldn't go on, so I had to make that call and phoned the vets, arranging for them to come to our home, as Bailey hated the vets surgery, no wonder he had been so many times in his lifetime, I arranged for them to come Saturday so Hubby would be home, Bailey was very much 'his boy'.  By Friday evening when Hubby got home, I was in shreds, Bailey was very ill.  So, on Saturday 24th February exactly two months to the day after we lost Sorrell, Bailey Boy gained his wings, he was two weeks shy of his 14th Birthday.

The grief was immense, I was numb, I couldn't do anything, just getting through each day and almost wishing there wouldn't be another one to follow.

Then one day in April I was scrolling through my Facebook timeline and this picture of a Bearded Collie popped up and it was one of my rescue contacts, Shirley who runs Beardies In Need, posting that this was an 8 month old Beardie Boy looking for a new home through no fault of his own, who had been returned to his breeder.  I showed the photo to hubby and he said 'I think you should get him'.  After a couple of messages and a phone call we got in the car and drove across the country to near Hull (we are in North Wales) and collected our new Beardie Boy.  It turned out that I already knew his breeder (the Bearded Collie world is a very small one) and even stranger still it turns out that this breeder had supplied the first foundation girl Beardie to the breeder we got Bailey from all those years ago, so Merlyn and Bailey are related somehow, it was definitely meant to be.   He was called Bobby, but the breeder didn't like that so she had been calling him Dobby, we didn't like either so changed it to Merlyn!  

That has to be the best decision we have made ever, Merlyn has mended our broken hearts, he is a big fluffy, bouncy clown, I had forgotten what it was like to have a Beardie puppy, it being 11 years since getting Majik.

So, here he is .......

Sorry for such a long blog post, but if there is anybody still hanging in there with me (doubtful), then I felt I needed to explain.  I quite often stumble across someone's blog to find they haven't posted anything for a very long time and I wonder what has happened.

I am going to try and post something at least once a week and hopefully get some people interested in my blog again.

Needle Felted 'Oswald'

Hello Blog friends,

I am still here, not producing many cards at the moment (only for family etc).  But I did go on a days course recently to try something new.  The course was a Needle Felting course run by a very talented lady Heather O'Leary of Craftwerk.

I have always wanted to try this craft, so was delighted to find a course being run fairly near to me.

I had the most enjoyable day, there was only two 'students' so the course was very intimate which suited me not being good in large crowds.  Heather is lovely and made us tea and coffee all day long, offered home made cake (her marzipan cake is gorgeous and I don't even like marzipan) and other goodies.

As there were only two of us, we got to make our own individual felted creatures, so I made Oswald my Romanian rescue.

This could be the start of something new, I already have a kit to do (purchased before I went on the course, but was always too scared to try).

We also came away with loads of wool and needle felting basics, so I can start creating other critters. This means you might see my cards interspersed with little creations like this from time to time.

Hello my (hopefully) loyal blog friends.

I have been conspicuous by my absence once again, I mean seriously, 5 months since my last post!!

I have no excuses, except life getting in the way.

I have been making cards, and have photos of everything, but just finding the time to blog has been beyond me.

This is a card made for a male friend, I absolutely adore this image from Mo Manning and once I had purchased it couldn't wait to use it, I think it is perfect for male cards.

I kept the card simple, as I think the image is quite a statement on its own, plus adding lots of embellishments on male cards never seems to work for me.

There has been another 'small' distraction in the household for the last couple of months .....

Please meet Misty

Misty is a Westie and is now 4 months old, she is such a naughty puppy, but adorable.  I have wanted a Westie like forever and finally I have one (didn't think hubby would let me get her, but he did).

Magical Birthday Wishes

Hello fellow Blog friends,

I strongly suspect that you have all deserted me, due to the large absence of blogs from my good self.

All I can say is that I will never EVER move house again!!  This has been the most stressful, emotional and tiring event to happen in our lives for the past 15 years.  For the past 12 months or so I have got along on a wish and a prayer, with one disaster after another, way to many to bore you all with.

One very sad event was having to make the heartbreaking decision to let Holly go over the Rainbow Bridge, she had no quality of life any more and it was so sad.  She did make it to 14 and a half which I never thought she would ~ Fly high Holly 😢

I finally feel like we have come out of a very dark tunnel, but it has left us drained and broke 😔

My card making, unfotunately, became a chore.  Every event that loomed on the calendar filled me with a sense of dread, 'another card to make'.

But, as I said I feel we have turned a corner at last and I am now looking forward to enjoying my cards again.

So, this is a card I made for my Stepmother, she loves fairies and her garden resembles a fairy grotto.

Shih Tzu's & Lhasa Apso's

Hello my friends,

What fabulous weather we are having in these here parts at the moment.  I am trying to keep up with the garden, but fighting a losing battle!

We had friends here last weekend and they were wonderful, spent the whole time helping hubby and I with so many chores.  We got the sit on lawnmower working and moved a load of garden ornaments from where they had been dumped seven months ago in one of our paddocks (they are incredibly heavy).  We removed a cupboard in what I call the utility room, to allow me to have my tumble drier in that room, there has been some severe muppetry going on in this house, as we removed the cupboard it got stuck and at first we thought it was the skirting board that was stopping it from coming out, but no, whoever installed the cupboard had actually cut a hole in the floor tile to accommodate the leg!!  These plastic legs are adjustable, they screw up or down to allow for uneven floor surfaces enabling the fitter to get a level cupboard.  WHO in their right mind would cut a hole in the floor tile?  So, a relatively small job has now turned into something more labour intensive.  Fortunately we discovered the offcuts of these tiles in one of our fields, so now hubby has got to try and patch them in.

On to my card.  This was made for my Stepsister who has a couple of Shih Tzu's, the more keen dog lovers may note that this isn't a Shih Tzu it is actually a Lhasa Apso, but to be fair it looks just like her male dog Chester and of course I coloured it to match his fur colouring, adding the little bone shaped 'tag' myself to match the one he has on his collar.

Hello blog buddies,

I have decided to surface yet again!

I am still struggling to get my craft room sorted, the house move has had a huge impact on everything!  14 years worth of stuff transported from our old house by ourselves (we couldn't get a removal company for the date we wanted to move) to the new house.  It has forced me to go through every box and question whether I want the items in them or not.  An awful lot of the 'stuff' was in our huge loft in the last house and very much out of sight, so a massive clearout has ensued!  We should really have done all this before we moved.

I have been ebaying and have made several trips to the local recycling centre in an effort to reduce the piles of 'stuff' down.

Anyway, amidst all this chaos I have made a card for someone who keeps bees and as this stamp had never been inked up before, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to do so.

Guinea Pigs!

Well hello there my wonderful blog buddies (assuming there are any of you left out there following my little blog)!

So much has happened whilst I have been absent, but the biggest news is we have moved house!!

As is usually the case Hubby and I don't do 'small' moves and this one was no exception!  We have moved from Warwickshire to Denbighshire!!!!!!

There is a long story attached to this decision, but we had reached a point in our lives where we didn't want a huge mortgage hanging round our necks and we were desperate to live somewhere with no neighbours (having had problems at both of our last properties).

So, we have only gone and bought a small holding just outside of Denbigh ~ YAY.

Of course the disruption of moving has meant that my card making has all but stopped, my craft room was all packed up and mostly still is, although I have dug out a few things.

Last week I was determined to make a card for someone back in our last village who has Guinea Pigs and this is what I came up with .....

The image was purchased from an artist on Etsy for a small amount (no more than a digi image would have cost) and meant I didn't have to colour it myself ~ cheating I know, but time was of the essence and I just loved the image.

The sentiment is from an old pack of Lakeland sentiments (remember when they sold craft stuff)?  The Guinea Pig paw prints are from a stamp set by Hero Arts called 'Animal Prints'.

I am hoping to get back up to speed with my card making, maybe enter some challenges, but for now I need hubby to re-erect my craft room and unpack all my stuff, which quite frankly took a back seat while the rest of the house got sorted.

Farewell Dear Bonnie .....

My friends, today is a very sad day.  Majik's friend and fellow Zombiesquad member will be passing over to Heaven and her earthly body will be turned to dust.  Bonnie da Westie passed over the Rainbow Bridge last week at the tender age of 7, I can't tell you how sad this makes me.  She was selfless, always there to offer a kind paw or furry shoulder to cry on when needed, yet in life she was herself very poorly.

This is the card I sent to Hazel her Human Mum.

So, there will be a ceremony at 1.30pm GMT today in Penzance, if I were closer I would have gone, but rest assured my thoughts will be with them.

Over The Threshold

Well hello there everyone!

I have been a VERY bad blogger and indeed blog friend for several months now *slapped wrist*

I have a whole host of reasons why I haven't been around, but I won't bore you all with them on here ~ except maybe one, the house has been decorated ~ finally!  When we moved to this house 14 years ago, the guest room was a psycedelic green (it was a young boy's bedroom previously)!!  Up until a few weeks ago it was still that same green!  It is now a very relaxing 'Egyptian Cotton' which is a Dulux paint colour, in fact almost the whole house is now painted in this colour.  I cannot believe we have subjected our house guests to that 'nightmare inducing' green colour for all that time!!  On the odd occasion I have had to vacate our main bedroom (hubby snoring etc, etc) I have preferred to go and sleep on the sofa in the lounge than it that room ~ now that should have told me something.

Also, my BIG news is we have another fur baby ~ yes I know five dogs is a bit excessive, but if you could see him you would melt as well!  In fact here he is:-

His name is Oswald and he is from Romania!  He is a little street dog that was captured by the awful 'dog catchers' and thrown into one of the even more awful 'Kill Shelters' out there.  There is a truly wonderful man called Mihai Grigorie who has a rescue called M.G. Rescue out in Romania that saved Oswald (and countless others) from that hell hole.  We adopted him and he was transported 1,500 miles to be here with us and we have just had his story published in the current (August) edition of Dogs Today magazine *proud face*.

Right, after that little catch up I do have a card to share today and there is a link to the decorating story above.

This was my first commission to do some Wedding Invitations, we had the decorators come round to see what needed doing and give us a quote.  They are a Husband and Wife team, but at the time were not married, when they found out I make cards their faces lit up and said 'we need to get some Wedding Invitations made', so I asked when the Wedding was and they said 23rd May Bank Holiday weekend at that time it was 12th May, so I asked how many they were going to need and they said about ten ~ whew, I had visions of trying to knock out a couple of hundred in a week and a half!!

Anyway they sent me an image they had found on the tinter web that they liked and I came up with this digi image that I already had which was very similar, but a lot more 'classy'.  Red was chosen because her bouquet had red flowers in it and I coloured their hair to match the couple themselves.  Inside was printed with the details of the day.

Oh and they are potentially the best decorators (well much more than decorators) on the planet ~ highly recommended.

So that's me for today ~ my hour is up!  You may well ask why only an hour?  Well, one of my friends on the Friendly Beardie club Facebook page posted that she was doing these 'hourglass' challenges 'Interested Ears'.   Basically you get a box or tin or anything really and write loads of different chores and nice things to do in an hour and put each piece of paper in the box/tin.  Each day you pull one of the bits of paper and do that chore/nice thing for an hour.  I have to say it works for me, so far I have done all my paper shredding, cleaned two ovens and have now blogged ~ fantastic idea.

Happy Caravanning!

Hi everyone (if there are still any of you around)!

I have well and truly been MIA for the last month or so, it is always a busy time of year here for me as family and friends descend for annual visits, we are almost in the Cotswolds, so we are very popular with quite a few people ~ lol.  I have had my Mother here who was 80 during her visit, we had a day out in Stratford upon Avon and I was 'taken' round Shakespear's birthplace, I am afraid to say that it just isn't my 'thing' and was shocked at how much it cost, £30 odd for the two of us and my Mother got a concession for her age!!  Personally, I would have rather given the money to an animal charity, but hey ho it was her Birthday.

Right, on to todays 'share', this is a card for a friend who regularly goes caravanning with his wife and Bearded Collies, I thought the little caravan image was perfect.

There was another reason why I had not blogged for a while, earlier in the year we found a young wood pigeon in the garden and he was clearly not old enough to look after himself, you never see baby wood pigeons and that is because they are practically fully grown when they leave the nest.  This one had obviously fallen from his nest and we think high winds were to blame, so I googled to try and find someone I could talk to and find out what to do.  I came across a Wildlife Rescue called 'Little Foxes' who claimed to have knowledge of wood pigeon babies, so I phoned and spoke to a really lovely lady called Penny Little, who happens to be the founder of the rescue and she gave me loads of advice and with this advice and hubby's practical skills in building him a little run we managed to save him.  We couldn't return him to the nest, so opted for the run during the day and he was brought in for the night, he was christened Nelson (by Hubby) and was hilarious if you tried to pick him up as he would 'wing slap' you as much to say "get off ~ leave me alone" little did he know we were trying to save his life!

And here he is .....

He stayed with us for a couple of weeks, until his little wings were strong enough to fly off into some nearby trees and we still see him in the garden.

I sent a Thank You card to Penny for all her advice with a picture of Nelson enclosed and the card I made had an image of a Fox on the front.  Well, a short time afterwards I received an email off Penny saying how lovely she thought my card was and asking if I would be prepared to make a limited number of cards, around 20, that she could then sell to make money for the charity!  I immediately said yes and in return she will put a little advert in her quarterly newsletter that is sent out to all her members for my cards!  So, fellow bloggers you can imagine what a mammoth task hand colouring 20 Fox images and assembling all the cards was.  They were finally posted out yesterday.

Well after all that I will now go and tidy up my craft room as it looks as though a bombs hit it ~ lol

90th Birthday Card

Hi everyone,

Well here I am back again with the promised card......

I was asked by a friend for a card for her Mother who will be 90 and is also visually impaired, so the card needed to be a 'sensory' card that she could touch and feel the detail on, it was also requested that it shouldn't be too busy (meaning do not put every kind of embellishment you have on it) as that would have been confusing.

This is what I came up with.

There was no point in doing a coloured image, so I kept it fairly simple, but each element has its own texture ~ whaddya think?

Elusive blogger alert!

I haven't blogged for such a while and it kept coming into my mind that I hadn't blogged for a while, but I wanted to catch up with so many chores in and outside the house.  I tell people it is like having a load of those lotto balls in my head, all rumbling around and every now and then one pops up and reminds me of something that needs to be done ~ lol.  I have been trying to get rid of a few of them to free up some time for my card making and I am still re-organising my craft space which is so time consuming.

Anyhoo, enough excuses and on to todays share ~ my Father's Day card, it was Father's Day in the UK last Sunday and last week I was sat at my desk waiting for divine inspiration, as Mr Mojo had definitely left the building, then all of a sudden it was there on Facebook!  I follow Mo's Digital Pencil on there and they posted a picture of this image which was available to buy in the store and I took one look and couldn't believe what I was seeing, it was almost as if I had asked for Mo to draw me a commission sketch!  There we were my Dad and me all those years ago ~ wonderful.

Firstly, I would like to wish you all a Happy Easter ~ I hope the Easter Bunny visited and left you all some choccie treats!

It has been a little hectic here with visitors and with the fine weather (here in Warwickshire anyway) we have been catching up on some long overdue outside chores.

I would like to share my Easter card that I sent out to a select few people.

Happy Mother's Day

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well and enjoying your Mother's Day if you are here in the UK.  I had a gorgeous card from my fur babies and a equally gorgeous bunch of flowers which I am told Majik insisted on buying!

Today I am sharing the card I made for my Mom, she does not use the internet so will not see it on here, but I did call before hand to check she had received it ~ I had the usual luke warm response to the card ~ why do I bother?  Needless to say my Step Mother seemed much more grateful for her card, as they say 'you can't choose your family'!!
